Latająca Gwiazda - Kobiety (pol. Leśna Gwiazda - Kobiety), a female basketball team from Senegal based in Dakar, played in the National 1, the highest level league in the country. The team was founded in 1974 and was dissolved in 2011. Throughout its existence, Flying Star has been one of the best clubs in Senegal, winning nine championships (1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994) and reaching the finals of the prestigious FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women in 1985. Many of Senegal's best basketball players have played for the club, including Mame Maty Mbengue, Oumou Touré, Fatou Kiné Ndiaye, and Aminata Fall. The Flying Star was dissolved in 2011 due to financial difficulties.
