The Franciscan University of Steubenville Barons men's basketball team is a member of the NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The team, which is led by head coach Mike Garutalo, plays its home games at the Finnegan Fieldhouse on the campus of Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio.
The Barons have a rich history of success, having won 10 conference championships and made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2018, the Barons won their first-ever national championship, defeating Northwest Missouri State University 74-65 in the championship game.
The Barons are led by a talented group of players, including senior guard Brent Weese and senior forward Daniel Uhle. Weese is a two-time All-American and the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Uhle is a two-time All-Conference selection and the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
The Barons are poised for another successful season in 2019-20. They are ranked No. 1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference preseason poll and are looking to make another run at a national championship.
